About Mikey

Mikey Marget (they/them) is a Minneapolis-based cellist and songwriter. Their instrumental music combines traditional folk with modern electro-acoustic elements, while their singing tunes address topics including: the joy of community connection, personal and collective mental health, and queer experience.

Mikey has performed at festivals in the USA including Pickathon, LEAF, and Mile of Music. Internationally, they have played stages in Tunisia, Croatia, Chile, Denmark, Sweden, and Indonesia.

Their teaching practice includes classical technique/repertoire as well as traditional U.S. American & Scandinavian folk music. In addition to performing, Mikey is passionate about creating and supporting community music events, workshops, and welcoming jam spaces.
